The Death of Jack Hamilton

Short story about the drawn-out death of Jack Hamilton, one of John Dillinger’s fellow-bank robbers, as told by another, Homer Van Meter… Van Meter explains that Dillinger was indeed gunned down outside the Biograph, despite rumors to the contrary… He begins his story after their escape from the Little Bohemia shootout, and explains that Hamilton lost his hat, then tied a rag around his head, which was what the police noticed as they drove past. This led to a running gun-battle in which Hamilton was wounded in the chest…
