(1 customer review)

The Lawnmower Man is a Stephen King short story first published in Cavalier magazine in May 1975 and later collected in Night Shift. What begins as an ordinary lawn-care appointment becomes a bizarre nightmare when homeowner Harold Parkette discovers a strange groundskeeper whose methods defy logic. Combining dark humor, surreal horror, and mythology, it remains one of King’s most unusual and memorable early stories.

Description

The Lawnmower Man follows Harold Parkette, who hires a lawn service to tame his overgrown yard. What seems like a routine job quickly becomes a surreal nightmare when he discovers the mower operates by itself and the bizarre lawnmower man follows behind, consuming the grass. Absurd, darkly comic, and deeply unsettling, the story showcases King’s talent for transforming the mundane into the grotesque.
