Description
Mile 81 follows ten-year-old Pete Simmons, who wanders into an abandoned rest stop on the Maine Turnpike and falls asleep after drinking from a discarded bottle of vodka. While he sleeps, a mysterious mud-covered station wagon appears. One by one, motorists who stop to help vanish without a trace. Soon Pete and several children realize the vehicle is a predatory, shape-shifting creature disguised as an ordinary car. Forced to confront an enemy beyond human understanding, they must find a way to stop it before more lives are lost.
