This brief but memorable Stephen King story follows Jim Danton, a man afflicted with a bizarre condition that forces him to endure an additional hour of wakefulness each night. Across just four pages, King transforms a simple concept into an unsettling exploration of exhaustion, anxiety, and the thin boundary between ordinary experience and nightmare. The issue also featured fiction by Chuck Palahniuk, S.A. Cosby, and Kealan Patrick Burke, along with an interview with King conducted by Bev Vincent.

Description

The Extra Hour follows Jim Danton, a man suffering from a strange condition far worse than ordinary insomnia. Each night, after the world has settled into sleep, Jim finds himself trapped in an additional hour that no one else seems to experience. As the unexplained extra time stretches on, he becomes increasingly exhausted and desperate for answers. Recounting his ordeal to his lawyer, Jim gradually reveals the disturbing nature of his predicament.
